About the project
We will be washing and painting the Karori tunnel that spans between Glenmore and Chaytor Streets.
Works are set to begin Sunday 7 January 2024, and will finish Friday 19 January 2024.
Wellington City Council has contracted National Group Ltd to do this work, who will be on-site Monday to Friday between 11pm to 5am.
In the event of unsuitable weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the start date may be postponed.
Traffic management
During construction, traffic management will be operational around the worksite. The road will remain open for vehicle, cyclist, and pedestrian access at all times between the hours of 5.30am and 11pm Monday to Friday, and at all times Saturday and Sunday.
Please note – a portion of the Zealandia car park area will be unavailable for the duration of the project as the carpark will form part of the work site. Any vehicles obstructing work areas or traffic may be towed to a nearby suitable area.
