Grafton Road retaining wall

We will be remediating the existing walls on Grafton Road, outside #118-130.

About the project

We will be remediating the existing walls on Grafton Road, outside #118-130. This remediation work involves installing a rock bolt and mesh system to reinforce the bank.

The retaining wall remediation works will ensure that Grafton Road is safer and more resilient to road users and pedestrians.

Timings

Works are set to begin Monday, 30 October 2023 and are planned for completion by December 2023 (weather dependant). These works will be performed 7 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday, and 7 am to Noon on Saturdays.

Wellington City Council has contracted Groundfix Ltd to do this work.

Traffic management

Grafton Road will have a traffic lane closure for the duration of the contract. The road will remain open for resident access to properties, including vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians at all times.

The road will be reduced to a single lane under a reduced speed limit 24/7. Sections of the high-level footpath where work is happening will be closed, and residents can access their properties on either end not affected by work.

Residents may need to wait to be escorted past the site during work hours when required.
