Mount Victoria Heritage Study report

In 2016 and 2017, the Council undertook a study of Mount Victoria heritage to get an understanding of what typifies the historic character of the suburb and how, for example, the buildings in Mount Victoria differ from houses in other parts of the city.

Mount Victoria is of great importance to the history of Wellington. It was established early in the city’s history and still includes many early houses which are of architectural and historical value.

The results of the study are in this report. It includes an overview, with maps and details of the study area, in-depth reports of seven areas considered to have high levels of physical integrity, and individual reports on 39 buildings of particular interest in Mount Victoria.
