What happened to this consultation?

We asked for your feedback on our proposal to amend the Fire Prevention Bylaw to focus on the nuisance arising from fires and smoke.

Background to the proposal

The Government has made legislative changes to how fire safety rules work. They have set up a new agency, Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ), which is taking responsibility for fire safety. This includes setting fire bans and issuing fire permits. The changes mean that the Council’s Consolidated Bylaw 2008 Part 3: Fire Prevention (the Bylaw) is out of date. The Council has reviewed the Bylaw and proposes a change to focus on the nuisance arising from fires and smoke.
