Sydney frequently ranks in the top ten most liveable cities in the world. It is also a centre for financial and professional services, IT, health and education. It is also a popular tourist destination.

How the relationship began

A sister city relationship between Wellington and Sydney was formed in September 1983.

Currently, the Wellington – Sydney relationship focuses on tourism opportunities through WellingtonNZ. The two cities have also connected through their mutual affiliation with the 100 Resilient Cities Programme.
