Wellington Walkway

There are six major walkways in the Wellington region. The tracks take in scenic views of the city and coast and cover a wide range of landscapes. Walkers can hike through the changing forests of the city's town belt, windswept farmland on the coast of Makara, or through Wellington's Botanic Garden.

The walkways are:

  • Skyline
  • Southern
  • City to Sea
  • Northern
  • Eastern
  • Te Kopahou.

The Feeling Great website has maps of each walkway and lists the sights to visit along the way.

Town Belt

Wellington's Town Belt - extending for 425 hectares through the city - has an extensive walking track network. The Town Belt is public land and accessible from a number of points around the city. It offers the feeling of being miles from city life, without having to leave town.
