The Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards offer recognition to volunteer groups for their contributions to the Wellington region.
The awards are sponsored by Wellington International Airport in partnership with The Community Trust of Wellington.
Categories
The Volunteer Awards recognise volunteer groups in five categories:
- Arts and Culture
- Educational and Child/Youth Development
- Health and Well-being
- Heritage and Environment
- Sport and Leisure
2010 Nominations
Nominations for the 2010 Volunteer Awards are now open. You can nominate any not-for-profit group or organisation working in the interests of the community (including your own). The awards are also open to community groups who use professionals to support the volunteers' services.

2009 Awards Presentation
All the winners in the Wellington city group with Steve Fitzgerald (CEO Wellington airport), Mayor Kerry Prendergast and Deputy Mayor Ian McKinnon
In 2009, Computer Access New Zealand (CANZ) Trust won the Heritage and Environment category and the Supreme Winner award for the Wellington city group.
The CANZ Trust was established to promote the reuse and recycling of computer equipment. CANZ created eDay as a community event to raise awareness about the dangers of electronic waste in landfills. This has now grown to a national phenomenon with 40 communities involved across New Zealand.
CANZ also won the Heritage and Environment category at the regional awards, as well as the overall regional Supreme Award. They go forward to the national awards judged in March 2010.

- Lyall Bay Surf and Lifesaving Club (Sport and Leisure)
- Mary Potter Hospice (Health and Well-being) - both Wellington city and regional winner
- Wellington Community Law Centre - highly commended (Health and Well-being)
- English Language Partners Wellington (Education and Child / Youth Development)
- Vincents Art Workshop (Arts and Culture) - both Wellington city and regional winner
