OOS - Treatment Options

Print Page

Word of mouth is the best way to find a practitioner who has experience treating people with OOS.

The following treatment options are available in Wellington:

  • Acupuncture - Insertion of needles into specific points of the body to heal and reduce pain.
  • Aromatherapy - Treatment using oils from plants and herbs that have therapeutic qualities.
  • Bowtech (Bowen Technique) - Gentle movements on soft tissue to stimulate energy flow, allowing the body to heal itself.
  • Chiropractic - Manipulation of the spine to reduce irritation.
  • Homoeopathy - Liquid, powder or tablet remedies based on the premise that substances which produce certain symptoms in a well person, can remove those same symptoms in an unwell person.
  • Massage - Deep tissue massage removes toxins from muscles. Massage to relax is a gentler form.
  • Osteopathy - Gentle manipulation of your bones, especially the spine and pelvis, to restore alignment and mobility.
  • Physiotherapy - Combination of hands-on treatment, exercise techniques, movement training and other aids e.g. ultra sound, to strengthen and repair muscles and body functions.
  • Reflexology - Stimulation of reflex points in the foot, which relate to parts of the body, to revitalise and restore.
  • Reiki - Placing of hands on the body to promote natural healing processes.
