Leisure Card.

The Leisure Card is a personalised membership scheme that gives access to discounts for a variety of recreation opportunities. The scheme was established to help people who could not participate in recreational activities due to cost.

You can qualify for the Leisure Card if you are a Wellington city resident and if you are one or more of the following:

  • a Community Services Card holder
  • on the invalid's or sickness benefit
  • a recent migrant (within last six months)
  • on the green prescription (GRx) scheme
  • a SuperGold Card holder
  • a city housing tenant.

Discounts

The Leisure Card will give you access to the following discounts at Wellington City Council facilities:

  • 50% discount off admission to swimming pools and recreation centres
  • 20% discount off fitness centre memberships
  • up to 20% discount off swimming pool and recreation centre programmes (eg preschool music and movement classes, learn to swim, springboard diving, water babies, variety sports)
  • 50% discount off admission to spas, saunas and steam rooms at swimming pools
  • 50% discount off the library loan fee for audiovisual items including CDs, DVDs, CD-ROMs and videos (cannot be used with other promotional discounts).

The Leisure Card will also give you access to a minimum 20% discount from selected:

  • garden centres
  • theatres
  • recreation and leisure services.

Applying for a Leisure Card

You can apply for a Leisure Card by completing the enrolment form and sending it in.

Replacing the Passport to Leisure Scheme

The Leisure Card scheme replaces the Passport to Leisure scheme, in which you could use your Community Services Card to access discounts.

SuperGold Card and Community Services Card

You can use your Community Services Card to access the Leisure Card discounts until 31 December 2009. After that date, you will need to be a Leisure Card member if you still want to access discounts.

You can use your Super Gold Card to access the Leisure Card discounts until 1 September 2009. After that date, you will need to be a Leisure Card member if you still want to access discounts.

The Leisure Card scheme has more discounts at more places - and more people are eligible for it.
