Undergrounding Overhead Cables - Facilitation

The Council will facilitate a process for residents who are interested in funding undergrounding projects on their street.

Residents will receive assistance from Council staff who will liaise with utility operators to prepare cost estimates.

Criteria

The Council will only facilitate projects that cover a minimum of eight properties. Projects must involve the full conversion of overhead networks, namely:

  • placing main distribution cables underground
  • placing customer service cables underground
  • reinstatement of footpath or road where construction has taken place
  • removal of overhead network
  • upgrade of street lighting network.
