The plant sale at the nursery open day

The Berhampore Nursery, at the end of Emerson Street, is where the Council grows trees and plants for Wellington's gardens, parks and reserves. The open day is a once-a-year opportunity for you to have a behind-the-scenes look.

This year's theme is 'Coasting Along' - focusing on coastal plants and habitats.

There will be displays, talks, free advice and a plant sale.

Talk Schedule

  • 10.30am: Community and the coast (Jenny Lynch, Places For Penguins)
  • 11.15am: Dune dwellers (Susanne Krejcek, Victoria University)
  • 12 noon: Coastal Critters (Richard Romijn, Greater Wellington Regional Council)
  • 12.45pm: Coastal garden design (David Sole, Wellington City Council)

Plant Production

Each year the nursery produces 90,000 native plants for the city's natural areas.

Other than the open day, the nursery does not sell to the general public.
