The Council manages two marinas - Clyde Quay and Evans Bay - and five boat ramps around Wellington.
Chaffers Marina in Wellington's inner harbour is managed by Positively Wellington Waterfront.
Enquiries about booking marina berths should be directed to individual marinas.
The Evans Bay boat ramp is at the south end of Evans Bay Parade, between Evans Bay Marina and Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club. It is usable in all weather conditions and is gently sloping with wooden piers. There is ample parking nearby.
Owhiro Bay boat ramp provides access to the south coast.
There are often long waiting lists for berths at marinas. New boat buyers are advised to make mooring arrangements with a marina before buying.
In Wellington harbour, commercial traffic and any vessels moving on the harbour at night use VHF Channel 14. Yacht clubs and the Volunteer Coastguard (when manned) use VHF Channel 62.
