There are two ways to pay your rent: automatic payment or in cash at one of our Council Service Centres. Internet Banking is currently being considered as another payment option.

Automatic Payment

Automatic payment is the most common way to pay your rent. To arrange an automatic payment, you will need the following details:

  • Name of Bank - The National Bank
  • Branch - Manners Street
  • Name of Account - Wellington City Council
  • Bank/Branch/Account Number/Suffix - 06 0582 0106111 00
  • Code - RENT
  • Reference - your payment reference code

Your payment reference code is very important. To confirm your payment reference, phone Council Housing: (04) 801 4034.

Paying Cash at a Council Service Centre

If you prefer to pay your rent in cash, you can visit one of five Council Service Centres located throughout the city.
