Applications for the Sports & Cultural Representatives Fund are not being accepted for events after 1 July 2012.

The grant is under review as the Council works towards the 2012-22 Long Term Plan (LTP).

The Long Term Plan sets out what the Council will do over the next 10 years, and how much this will cost.

Long Term Plan 2012/22 - Overview

If the grant is renewed, updated application information will be made available.

About the Grant

The Sports and Cultural Representatives Fund provides assistance to Wellington residents who have been selected to represent New Zealand overseas.

Value

Individual grants are for $200. Applications are accepted at any time (prior to 1 July 2012), subject to availability of funds. Retrospective applications will not be accepted.

Note: Grants are normally limited to five per team, or in some cases five per event. This is because funding is limited, and the scheme aims to assist a wide range of sporting and cultural disciplines.

Purpose

This fund is intended to increase the profile of Wellington and Wellingtonians overseas.

Criteria

Applicants must:

  • reside in the Wellington rate paying area
  • have gone through a national selection process and been chosen to represent New Zealand overseas in a sporting or cultural activity.

Applications

Apply in writing, providing all of the following:

  • a covering letter outlining what you hope to achieve
  • a copy of your letter of selection, showing the date and destination of your overseas trip
  • evidence of residency within the Wellington rate paying area - for example a copy of a bank statement, a power bill or phone bill
  • a daytime contact phone number.

Send your application to the Grants Coordinator at the address below.
