Sports Development Grants are under review as the Council works towards the 2012-22 Long Term Plan (LTP).
The Long Term Plan sets out what the Council will do over the next 10 years, and how much this will cost.

Purpose
To help fund professional advice and support for enhancing the strategic management of sports and recreation organisations.
Criteria
Organisations should:
- be not for profit, legally constituted sports or recreation organisations
- have a constitutionally 'open' membership
- be operating in the Wellington rate paying area
- be affiliated to a Sport New Zealand recognised national body.
Examples of eligible projects:
- club development, e.g. strategic/business planning, marketing planning, accounts mentoring
- recreation planning, e.g. strengthening school/club links, sharing resources/facilities.
