$100,000 per annum. Grants are awarded twice a year.

Purpose

The Creative Communities Scheme supports and encourages local communities to create and present diverse opportunities for accessing and participating in arts activities in Wellington city.

Various types of projects are considered for these grants, such as workshops, performances, exhibitions, short-term arts events, and arts-related promotional activities.

Criteria

Projects seeking funding from this scheme should meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Broad community involvement - the project creates opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in arts activities.
  • Diversity - the project supports the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity.
  • Young people - the project enables and encourages young people (under 18 years) to engage with and actively participate in the arts.

To be eligible for funding, projects must take place within the Wellington City rate paying area. Projects already receiving Creative New Zealand funding are not normally eligible. Contact the Grants Advisor if you intend to apply to the Creative Communities Scheme and any CreativeNZ fund.
