About the Grant

We want Wellington to have safe and resilient communities where people know each other and are ready to help when things go wrong.

A Community Preparedness Grant can help you get to know your neighbours.

Purpose

Community Preparedness Grants can help you organise a local project for your neighbourhood, so that if anything happens you are best placed to help each other. A resilient community is one that knows each other and is ready to help when things go wrong.

  • strengthen local connectedness in a way that is sustainable and has an ongoing benefit to the neighbourhood
  • increase community resilience and emergency preparedness locally
  • be open to the whole neighbourhood
  • improve the wellbeing of people in the community
  • improve how safe people feel within the community.

and the applicant must:

  • be a legally constituted community group or organisation (an individual or individuals cannot apply for this grant, but groups may apply under an umbrella organisation)
  • give evidence of sound financial management
  • have reported adequately on any previous funding received.
