Every year Wellington city hosts a wide range of events, including concerts, sporting matches, live theatre and dance, exhibitions and festivals. The Council supports many of these events through grants, event coordination, and promotional activities.

Pelorus Trust Sky Show

Wellington's sky comes alive with legendary fireworks maestro Robert McDermott's 20-minute pyrotechnic display at 9.00pm.

The fireworks follow the Ride of Your Life spectacle which starts at 6.00pm on the waterfront and features live music, food stalls and carnival rides to raise money for the Wellington Free Ambulance service.

With around 150,000 spectators expected, significant traffic controls and restrictions will be in place.

Spectators should also observe the central city's 24-hour liquor ban that applies to all areas except licensed premises.

Wellington's top mountain bike relay with 6- and 12-hour rides suitable for competitive and social teams, individuals and juniors aged 12 - 17.

Mayoral Concert for Senior Citizens
