Celebrate holiday festivities at a seven-story high tree made up of 37,000 lights offering 16 million possible colour combinations.

A free phone at the tree base allows children to ring Santa direct, and visitors are encouraged to leave toys under the tree that will be distributed to needy children.

Wellington will once again play host to some of Hollywood's biggest names at the premiere of Peter Jackson's latest film The Lovely Bones in December.

The film, which releases in New Zealand cinemas on 26 December, will have its New Zealand Premiere on Monday 14 December at Wellington's renowned Embassy Theatre.

Fans will have the opportunity to see the stars and collect autographs on the red carpet.

Road closure details to be confirmed shortly.
