The Council supports and promotes events of all sizes in Wellington City - from major corporate-sponsored events to smaller community events and programmes.
Major Events
The Council's Events team promotes, funds and supports major events in the city and produces and delivers major Council events such as Summer City, Diwali and the Sky Show.
Support includes:
- funding support for major events from the Events Development Fund
- marketing and promotion of major events
- logistical and venue support
- assistance with feasibility studies and event bids
- advice on event planning, management and risk management
- co-ordination and facilitation

Community Events & Programmes
The Council has specialist staff who advise and train organisers of community events and programmes.
Support includes:
- advice on funding and resource availability
- advice on organising programmes and events
- training in community programme and event management
- equipment available for hire
