Non-profit groups and community organisations make a vital contribution to the social, cultural and economic well-being of the capital.
Wellington City Council provides programmes and facilities to support these groups in their important work.
The Council is a major funder of community organisations and projects. Funding covers salaries for community organisation employees, festivals, arts and cultural projects, community projects, sports and city safety projects. Council grants amount to several million dollars.
The Funding Information Service is a comprehensive online database that helps community groups and individuals find out about how to apply for community funding. The service is available – free of charge – at city libraries, Citizen’s Advice Bureaux and some community centres. Contact your local centre to arrange a time to visit.
This service helps community groups learn how to effectively manage their finances. The service offers help with GST, PAYE and cash flow.
Phone: (04) 385 3518.
The Council has been involved in the production of a couple of free guides to help you live and have fun cheaply in Wellington.
