City Safety Officers on patrol
The Council has fifteen City Safety Officers who patrol Wellington’s inner city, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Their role is to help prevent crime in public places by being an approachable, visible presence. Officers wear bright yellow and black uniforms.
They are there to help you - whether you simply need information about what is happening in the city, or assistance with something more serious.
City Safety Officers can quickly alert police to a potentially dangerous situation, or a crime. They are trained in first aid and emergency management procedures.
The Council contracts Armourguard to provide the City Safety Officers.
Many Wellingtonians have welcomed their presence in the city. An AC Neilson survey showed 88% of residents believed City Safety Officers were making the inner city safer.
