If you are undertaking any work that involves moving earth or landscaping - including building construction work - you may need to apply for a resource consent.

The earthworks rules in the District Plan are designed to:

• keep people and property safe from potentially hazardous earthworks
• provide protection to streams and waterways from sediment runoff and dust
• minimise the visual effects of earthworks.

• refer to the Earthworks chapter of the District Plan - Plan Change 70
