Toi Pōneke - Facilities for Hire

Toi Pōneke has a variety of facilities for hire including meeting rooms, studios, rehearsal space and a darkroom.

The following are available at these facilities:

• chairs and trestle tables on request
• an electronic whiteboard and data projector for hire
• tea and coffee at extra cost
• pay and display car parks at the rear of the buildings
• wheelchair access.

Some facilities have a special room rate for October at specific off-peak times.

Studios & Rooms for Hire

Music Studios

There are three soundproofed music studios at Toi Pōneke. The smaller two hold a four-piece band including drum kit. The larger studio is suitable for five or six musicians and includes a sofa.

• Access to the rooms is available 9.00am - 11.00pm, seven days a week
• Prices range from $6 - $15 an hour
• $5 - $6 special hourly rate for October, available Fridays 6.00pm - 11.00pm

Community Room

Stephanie Woodman art class

This is a multifunctional room available for art classes, rehearsals and small meetings. It comes with 10 large wooden easels, chairs, tables, a modelling light and a large trough sink.

• Seats 35 people and measures 5.5 metres by 10 metres
• Prices range from $9 to $20 an hour
• $5 special hourly rate for October, available Fridays 6.00pm - 11.00pm and Sundays all day

Upper Chamber

This carpeted multifunctional room has good natural light and a high ceiling. It is a popular room for theatre rehearsals, presentations, workshops and meetings.

• Seats up to 50 people and measures 8 metres by 8 metres
• Prices range from $11 to $30 an hour
• $6 special hourly rate for October, available Friday to Sunday, 6.00pm - 11.00pm

Dance Studio

Tekno Funk dance class

The dance studio has a sprung wooden floor and mirrors. It is available for rehearsals for small dance troupes, dance classes, theatrical troupes and large meetings and presentations. It has a pull-down projector screen.

• Seats 70 people and measures 12.5 metres by 7 metres
• Prices range from $12.50 to $30 an hour
• $6 special hourly rate for October, available Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 12 noon

Footscray Project Room

This room is suitable for short- or long-term projects, such as short films, TVCs or a travelling theatre production. It has two phone lines, desks and chairs included in the rental fee.

• Accommodates six people
• Prices range from $7.50 to $15 an hour or $150 a week

Darkroom

This purpose-built darkroom has two enlargers and all the equipment needed to develop black-and-white photos. Just bring your own chemicals.

• Two people can use the darkroom at any one time
• Prices range from $3.50 to $5 an hour

Rehearsal Space

We also run other locations in the city that are suitable for rehearsal space. They would best suit groups developing or rehearsing works for one week or longer.
