The Council has upgraded the TSB Bank Arena (formerly the Queens Wharf Events Centre) at a total cost of $6.9 million.
Background
The TSB Bank Arena on Queens Wharf
The upgrade followed feedback from customers, concert promoters and event organisers about seating issues, poor access and the lack of adequate kitchen facilities.
The upgrade was split into two stages.
Stage One
This stage cost $3.3 million and was completed in May 2005. The work included:
- replacement of 3,628 seats
- installation of 538 additional seats (increasing seating capacity to 4,570)
- new toilets and washrooms
- additional facilities for people with disabilities
- internal painting
- new carpeting
- additional storage area.
A new kitchen on the ground floor was installed. This has significantly improved catering for events.
Stage Two
Stage Two was completed in June 2008 at a cost of $3.6 million.
The work included:
- upgrading the ground floor toilets and dressing rooms
- upgrading seating
- improvements to air quality within the venue.
