There are several agencies which support business development in New Zealand.

New Zealand Trade & Enterprise

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the New Zealand government's national economic development agency.

Through its network of offices worldwide, NZTE aims to grow New Zealand's economy by boosting the capability of businesses and regions, and facilitating their sustained and profitable participation in overseas markets.

Biz

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise also manages ‘biz’ (business information zone). Biz is an information service for anyone running or wanting to run a business. It assists in identifying organisations, people, training programmes and resources that would be of specific benefit to the establishment and growth of small to medium businesses.

The service is delivered through the biz website, the 0800 number (0800 42 49 46) and biz offices around the country (including Kapiti, Lower Hutt, Porirua and Wellington). It is a free service.

Foundation for Research, Science & Technology

The Foundation for Research, Science and Technology (FRST) assists companies undertaking research and development projects which result in new products, processes or services. The aim is to support companies to overcome technical barriers that are part of research and development.

Business Mentors New Zealand

This is a free, national mentoring service operating with over 1,200 mentors and administered by 14 regional agencies. Mentors can help any company in New Zealand that has been in business for at least six months and has less than 25 employees.
