2008/09 Draft Annual Plan.

The Council would like to hear your views on its 2008/09 Draft Annual Plan.

The plan outlines all the projects and activities proposed for the next financial year, why these are planned and how much they will cost.

The Draft Annual Plan is also the process by which the Council sets rates for the coming year.

New Initiatives

The Council is proposing new initiatives for 2008/09. Select a title below for more information and to make a submission.

  • Social and Recreation An artificial surface for Nairnville Park, practice wickets for the Basin Reserve, an upgrade of Thistle Hall, and funding for the Pasifika Festival.
  • Cultural Well-Being Funding for the National Arts Festival for Children, a feasibility study on developing a film scoring facility in Wellington, and an increase to Museums and Galleries Trustee fees.
  • Environment Transitional funding for the Karori Sanctuary, additional funding to deal with plant and animal pests, and investigating the possibility of a wind farm at Carey's Gully, and a bioreactor plant that converts sewage into LPG or electricity.
  • Economic Development Funding for Positively Wellington Tourism to step up its internet presence, and increased salary costs for Positively Wellington Tourism staff.
  • Transport A survey to help guide future decisions about sustainable transport options, and improving access to, and through, Hataitai Park.
  • Urban Development Incentives for use of sustainable building practices, additional funding to continue with earthquake assessments, funding to continue dealing with graffiti, resource consent fee waiver on heritage buildings, and improving the monitoring of resource consent compliance.
  • On the Horizon Potential Council projects that will be considered for funding when the Annual Plan is finalised in June 2008.

To make a submission, select a title above. The deadline for submissions is 5.00pm, Monday 19 May 2008.

Oral submissions will be heard in late May 2008.
