Title: Don't have a city-wide public liquor ban.
Opened: 15 March 2010
Closed: 3 May 2010
Submitted by: john smith johndsmith@imapmail.org
Petition Details: I don't want a city-wide liquor ban that would make it a criminal offence to drink liquor in public. There are already laws for the police to deal with disorderly people. People just drinking alcohol should not be punished because all they are doing is putting a bottle in their mouth. If they get drunk and fight then the police can arrest them, but not everyone who drinks in public causes trouble.
Background information: Wellington City Councillors want to introduce a city-wide liquor ban that would make it a criminal offence to drink liquor on all the streets and at parks and beaches.
