A Register of Interests is a tool that provides transparency to elected members including the Mayor and their spouses to declare publicly any interest they may have, such as shares in private companies, land and/or property ownership. This gives them and citizens peace of mind and eliminates any urban myths.

The Manukau City Council uses best practise and gives public access to its register of interests on their website.
