This petition is designed to give Wellington rate payers a say on how they want their resources managed on the Southern Landfil.
Background information
A contract between WCC and Nova Gas signed on the 4 October 1995 saw Wellington Ratepayers and Nova Gas share the cost of installing gas extraction pipes in our Southern Landfill, 50/50. Since 2007, Nova (via subsidiary Bay of Plenty Electricity) has destroyed the gas through its investment in an electricity producing generator, the electricity is sold into the local grid. The nuisance gas once converted into a renewable energy source has been sold back to the rightful owners you, since 2007.
