Thorndon Pool is at 26 Murphy Street, Thorndon.

This summer pool was built in the 1920s and is popular with city office workers and locals.

Thorndon Pool opened for the summer on Saturday 22 October 2011.

Hours for the 2011/12 season are:

Hiring the Pool

The pool can be hired after usual opening hours for private get-togethers such as:

• birthday parties for 8 to 14 year-olds
• work, team or family functions.

Hireage includes spa, inflatable toys, pool entry, BBQ and two qualified staff.

Health & Safety

To keep swimmers safe, all our pools meet the national PoolSafe standard and we have qualified lifeguards on duty at all times.

Children

For hygiene reasons, all toddlers must wear pants / swim suits that are tight fitting around their legs. Cloth or disposable nappies are not allowed. Little Swimmers swimming pants are available for purchase at the pools.

Children under 8 years old must be actively supervised by an adult (a person over 16 years old). All children under 5 years old have to be kept within arms reach of their adult supervisor.

Children are not allowed in the saunas or steam rooms.
