It’s my great privilege to be Mayor of this wonderful city. Wellington is a city rich in culture and talent. The diverse mix of people from all walks of life make this city an exciting place to be.

Wellington is a city that has something for everyone, from the golden sands of Oriental Bay, through to the quality shopping experience of the ‘Golden Mile’ and the quirkiness and intrigue of the city’s entertainment and restaurant precinct Courtenay Place.

During my years of service to this city, first as a councillor, then Deputy Mayor and now in my third term as Mayor, it has been my pleasure to meet many of you and to hear your ideas and vision for this city. Thank you for your talent, creativity, innovation and passion. Wellington is a better place for it.

I look forward to meeting many more of you during the next three years as we continue our work to make this city absolutely, positively the best that it can be.

Our city is sophisticated, lively and exciting. Our people are intelligent and creative. Our Creative Wellington – Innovation Capital vision aims to build on this city’s reputation as a dynamic place to live and do business.

The future economic and social development of Wellington and its citizens depends on the development, promotion and celebration of creativity and innovation in the city. This will benefit the city by retaining and attracting smart, intelligent, innovative and creative people and business to Wellington.

Wellington City Council, in partnership with the community, is working on some exciting developments to deliver this Creative Wellington – Innovation Capital vision.
